IMM Cologne Visit 2017

January saw the Somnus Export team return once again to IMM Cologne for the sixth consecutive year. IMM Cologne is considered a prestigious show, and regarded as Europe’s leading trade exhibition in the design and furniture world. The 2017 show presents a host of trends that will be shaping the furniture and interiors sector for the following twelve months.

Innovation and design are at the heart of Somnus, which makes IMM Cologne the perfect place to exhibit. This year we showcased our new special edition Sirius model alongside the latest Veritas collection.

First launched at IMM Cologne in 2016, the Veritas collection has already received a great reception in the market, with stockists in Germany, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. Somnus was looking to expand its distribution further at IMM through new retail stockists across Europe.

For the first time, visitors to the stand were able to experience the unique Virtual Reality tour of the Somnus Farm where viewers were able to meet our farmers and flock of sheep as well as learn more about where a Somnus bed starts life. It was greatly received by those that tried it and really added another dimension to the whole Somnus story.

Twelve beds were displayed at the exhibition all accompanied by a range of our stylish headboards which were upholstered in luxurious fabric. This year, the fabrics chosen took some inspiration from the predicted colour trends for 2017.

The Durham headboard  in fabric Naomi Bordeaux, Montpellier headboard  in Seven Ocre and the Victoria headboard in Seven Saffron were inspired by the vivid Chroma  trend, set to hit this year.

The Cecil headboard in the fabric Flax Pumice, the Bergen headboard  in the fabric Aalborg Silver and the Ashford headboard in the fabric Naomi Azure all followed the forecasted ‘Sentience’ trend, which embraces a soft palette of colours.

The Somnus ‘Hero Bed’ was displayed by itself in front of a rustic wallpaper. This year the striking Roma headboard in the fabric Seven Moss, was chosen and certainly caught people’s attention.

Aside from the exquisite headboards, our collection of hand-crafted beds were on display, ranging from a 6,660 spring count all the way up to a 41,400 spring count.

It was a greatly successful show with the Somnus Export team Alex ter Horst, Gerhard Voepel and Jacques Legros reporting lots of interest in the Somnus ranges.
